### #weeknotes ### What are #weeknotes ? Weeknotes are a great way for me to reflect on my week. I publish them in public because I believe it’s worth spreading our learnings to others. ### Personal stuff I've been writing daily notes, if you want to bore yourself to death you can see those here #dailyRamble . Writing regularly is helping me process everything a lot easier, my brain feels less fuzzy, and I've found myself excited to spend ~10 minutes reflecting on my day. I mentioned the negative trans news in the UK in my last weeknote ( [[2025-w17]]). It's been heartwarming to see the backlash, especially those who might not normally engage are seeing how ridiculous it all is. However, we're still worried for our safety in the UK. This might have been the straw that broke our camels back, I hope it all blows over but that's increasingly looking unlikely. We haven't made a decision yet, and probably won't for many weeks yet. In happier news, we had a wonderful holiday to [Oban, Scotland](https://maps.app.goo.gl/K5ueaehDMm4gMcEa8) ! My highlights were a trip to Iona ( [[2025-04-26]]), and Tobermory ( [[2025-04-28]]). The ~8 hour public transport trip back home on the hottest day of the year was pretty grim but well worth having another day exploring the west coast of Scotland. Earlier today, I helped a friend who is training to be a physio and needed a willing participant for an extra qualification ( [[2025-05-02]]). We worked on my upper back, traps and shoulders. I feel _so much better_ already. Human bodies are fascinating and I'm excited to see what else I can learn about muscles and stretching. ### Professional stuff This was a short week for me this week. I still managed to: * Just about catch up from being off * Work with a client on their marketing approach for their product launch * Helped onboard a new member of the team, a great Full Stack developer who I'm really excited to have join the team * Help the team with another live demo for a client; politely pushing to demo more of our work seems to be paying off * Highlight a potential series of problems and helping the team to proactively solve them * Had a lovely lunch with work colleagues I signed a 6 month contract, and next week will have 3 months left. I'll need start thinking about what the near future will look like. You can find my other weeknotes here #weeknotes
