### #weeknotes ### What are #weeknotes ? Weeknotes are a great way for me to reflect on my week. I publish them in public because I believe it’s worth spreading our learnings to others. ### Personal stuff **Countryside recharge** This week, I’m writing from the middle of rural Lincolnshire where I’ve been soaking up green fields, fresh air, and the kind of peace you only get far from phone signals and traffic. It’s been a wholesome mix of family time with my wife and her family, wandering through the countryside, and catching a proper breather. I can feel the pace slowing down in the best way. ![](https://jesswritesthings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/img_20250409_1634170508037587378151990162.jpg?w=1024) `A trip to a National Trust place, ft. Gobbo our favourite plushie` ![](https://jesswritesthings.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/img_20250410_163703505829729315954326320.jpg?w=768) `Exploring the countryside with my wife` **Reading** The reading streak continues strong! A little hiccup for forgetting my book while packing (classic), but my future mother-in-law saved the day with Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz – a solid mystery fix I’m working my way through as quickly as I can – I’m hoping to hand it back before we leave! I’m also nearly done with The Mercy of Gods by James A. Corey on audiobook (absolutely gripping), and I’ve also kicked off Billy Summers by Stephen King, but forgot it back at home in Newcastle. **Is the summer here?** There’s something about these new long summer nights – they’re made for spontaneous catch-ups and sitting outside after work. I’ve been making time to see friends after work in the sunshine, and it’s been the perfect way to wind down. **Playing games** I went to a pre-release event for the new Tarkir set in Magic the Gathering. No standout cards this time around for me, but it didn’t matter. It was a blast to just hang out with friends. I got a ticket for the Netrunner World Championships later this year! It’ll be my first Netrunner tournament, so I’m sure I’ll do badly, but I’m going to meet people and have a fun weekend! ### Professional stuff **Hedgehog of the Month – Thank You!** A big thank you to everyone who reached out with kind words after I won HOTM – I’m feeling very appreciated. The LinkedIn and Instagram shout-out from hedgehog lab was lovely too! **Technical postmortem** We hit unexpected downtime this week. The team responded with openness and curiosity to fix the problem quickly. We ran our first proper post-mortem together and it was ever so valuable. If we follow through on what we agreed, we’ll be in a much stronger position for the future. The transparency and honesty were top-tier, thanks team! **Workshop prep** Next week, I’m heading to Manchester for an in-person Go-To-Market workshop with one of the loveliest clients I’ve ever had the privilege of working with. I’m really looking forward to this. **Speaking again?** I’ve been quietly thinking about stepping back into the world of talks and events. It’s been a few years since I felt like I had something to share, but recently I’ve started to believe that even repeating the basics might be useful – especially when paired with some practical, grounded context. I’m going to pull together a short list of potential topics and a few low-pressure event formats. Maybe even a short blog post to test the waters? I’m keeping the momentum going, but at a steady pace. There’s plenty ahead, and I’m bringing the Lincolnshire calm along for the ride 🌤️ You can find my other weeknotes here #weeknotes
