### What are #weeknotes ?
Weeknotes are a great way for me to reflect on my week. I publish them in public because I believe it’s worth spreading our learnings to others.
### Personal stuff
First off, I finally got my hair sorted! I went for a bit of a fun style – all professional-looking at the front, but I’ve shaved the back of my nape, so it’s a bit of a party back there. Keeps things interesting, eh?

It’s been another good week for board games with friends, which is always a win. We got to try out a rather quirky potion brewing push your luck board game called Quacks of Quedlinburg.
I also convinced people to play Cash ‘n Guns, a game I haven’t played in years, which was a blast – you play as Gangsters who are trying to secure your share of the loot complete with foam guns.

We also brought out some classics like Skull and Camel Up for good measure.
Thursday evening, I managed to sneak in two more games of Sorcery. It’s definitely climbing up the ranks to become my favourite trading card game. Really enjoying the strategy and the artwork.

Then, mid-week, it was our friend’s birthday, so we took her out for dinner. We went for Korean Barbecue, which was brilliant – we loved cooking our own food on the little coals at the table. Happy birthday to our good friend, so glad we could celebrate with you!
I finished reading Lucy Rose’s The Lamb ([my review here](https://jesswritesthings.com/2025/03/30/the-lamb-by-lucy-rose-review/)). A fantastic book that I’ll be recommending to everyone for the next few months.
And to top off the week on a personal note, my wife and I both had Friday off, so we headed over to Durham for a day of exploring! We went to some beautiful National Trust gardens, a lovely queer bookshop, and generally had a lovely day!

### Work stuff
On the work front, I led a workshop earlier this week. It’s always quite impressive to see how strategy and different frameworks can really come together to solve problems and bring a sense of clarity to things. It’s a satisfying part of my job.
Transparency is still a big focus for me. I’ll keep on championing that one! Being open when things aren’t going as planned is more important than being transparent when things are going well.
I also had the opportunity to coach a few people this week. It’s something I genuinely enjoy – being able to help folks out, see them try new approaches, and ultimately grow from it is a really lovely feeling. So, thank you to those who trusted me with it.
“*The pain is the permission*” – If something is painful, that’s all the permission you need to go and change it. As people and companies grow not everything will be easy, this is good – go change it, it’s all the permission you need.
