Firstly, this books title would be perfect for a heavy metal band! This classic SciFi book, published in 1971, was a great read. We find ourselves in the near future with a world at the brink of collapse and nuclear war, the protagonist George realises his dreams have the ability to alter reality! Understandably this freaks him out, he quickly gets arrested for illegal drug taking (an attempt to stop himself from sleeping), and finds himself talking to a Government sponsored psychiatrist (Dr Harber). Dr Harber realises George is telling the truth, and starts trying to manipulate George's dreams to his own advantage! This story has all the SciFi checkboxes; an interesting world in the future, high stakes, and some aliens too.
