After years of hearing about Chuck Tingle, I spotted this in a bookshop whilst hiking in Scotland and grabbed it. In the story, 'Camp Damascus' is a gay conversion camp. It self proclaims as the "most effective" in the country (USA), run by The Kingdom of the Pines, an evangelical Christian Church. We follow the story through Rose. She's a young 20's woman, who still lives at home with her parents, and they're all part of The Kingdom of the Pines Church. She goes to battle with her parents, the church, her sexuality, and maybe one or two otherworldly things too. The story progresses at break neck pace, this book is a real page turner. I have to admit, I expected more from this book; this book came across as a muted mainstream friendly version of Chuck Tingles legacy. If you've not read anything by Chuck Tingle before, I'd recommend this book as it's a solid 3/5. ----- You can find out more about the book on [StoryGraph](https://beta.thestorygraph.com/books/706b3a63-85e3-44dc-80b8-93337e718e60). I’m trying to push myself as both a reader and a writer by writing a review for the books I've read. #books #bookreview
