At this point in the year, I've been reading mostly longer books (~5-600+ pages each). Those stories are wonderful as I enjoy escaping into the world the author creates, often spending weeks in the same book universe. I yearned for a shorter book, something with a solid story without giving me endless late nights to finish. My wife recommended Blake's 7, a short (204 page) science fiction romp through space. Published in 1977, it's a Classic of the SciFi genre. Blake's 7 is the least Science Fiction, science fiction book I've ever read - If that makes sense outside of my head! Whilst it lacks the Science, it makes up for it with fast paced action, just what I needed to keep my turning pages faster than any other book this year. It is cheesy. Sometimes mouldy (derogatory) cheese, given the age of the book it relies on tropes that modern Science Fiction authors have fought hard to unshackle themselves from. If you can look past that, you'll have a good time. Not a great time, but a fast paced page turner. ----- You can find out more about the book on [StoryGraph](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/f85e2321-26df-4805-9c21-f82921d03ac6). I’m trying to push myself as both a reader and a writer by writing a review for the books I've read. Feedback, advice, or points in the right direction are always appreciated. #books #bookreview
